With All Strings Attached (Jared Hauser)
Since the earliest use of the oboe in the mid 17th century, its pairing with strings has proven to be a complimentary mixture. Akin to a singular pigment juxtaposed against more homogenous colors; the oboe’s mellow, yet penetrating tone is the perfect foil to the string family’s pleasingly, blending texture.
Jared Hauser’s latest release, With All Strings Attached, showcases this flexible and colorful orchestration of oboe with strings by modern composers, William Bolcom, Libbly Larsen, Jennifer Higdon, Ellen Taaffe Zwilich and Paul Moavec.
