Pianist Cathal Breslin presents Mirage, an album of Romantic works that create musical illusions of landscapes and fantasies, reflecting light and color. The album was created while living in the Phoenix desert mountains, during a time of isolation, where the meaning of a mirage becomes a symbol of hope and light for the future. Mirage comprises solo piano works by Chopin, Brahms, De Falla and Rachmaninov. The Corelli Variations by Rachmaninov and Piano Pieces Op.118 by Brahms were written while the composers were living in mountainous landscapes, and they surround two folk-inspired fantasies, the Polonaise-Fantaisie by Chopin and the Fantasía Bética by De Falla.
