One of the most distinguished violists on the music horizon today, Yuri Gandelsman has performed with such musical luminaries as Sviatoslav Richter, Evgeny Kissin, Oleg Kagan, Natalia Gutman, Yuri Bashmet, the Borodin Quartet, among countless others, and for many years had been a principal violist of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under Zubin Mehta. For this recording of Paul Hindemith's most beloved viola sonatas Maestro Gandelsman is joined by pianist Ralph Votapek, winner of the prestigious Naumburg Award and Gold Medalist of the first Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.
