From the imaginary world of Spain in A Carmen Fantasy to the Spain of composer Manuel de Falla in Canciones Populares Españolas, Machado and Fialkow offer a program of expressiveness and subtlety in their second release on Blue Griffin Recording.

 The program also includes Garden Scene by Korngold and Sonata No. 27 by Mozart. The variety of styles on this newest release enables the listener to hear the maturity, melodic and virtuosic aspects of the double bass, transforming the instrument into “sheer music”.

 Marcos Machado, Brazilian-American double bassist enjoys a lively international career as a concert artist, teacher and chamber musician. The Strad says “…the left-hand technique is incredibly fluid, with precise, faultless articulation….Machado’s performance is a revelation…” Pianist, Ney Fialkow, winner of the Eldorado Music Prize in São Paulo, performs as a soloist and collaborative pianist, exploring the repertory of various styles and historic periods.
